Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer is officially open in Downtown Disney this month. Perfect timing with the opening of Star Wars Land on May 31st! We went on their second day and it was already a long wait but totally worth it.

If you’re headed to Downtown Disney soon and want to check them out I suggest arriving before they open at 11 AM. We showed up at around 10:40 and there was already a lot of people waiting. It only got longer as it got closer to opening. Thankfully they have tons of seating inside and outside! We were worried at first that we wouldn’t have anywhere to sit but once we realized how big it really was we found a booth no problem!

If you haven’t heard of Black Tap yet it’s probably because this is the first one ever to arrive in California. They have other locations in Las Vegas and their homefront of New York has several! Personally, I’m thrilled to have another great place in Downtown Disney to eat. When you frequent Disneyland as often as my husband and I do, it’s refreshing to have a new place to check out.

First things first, we had to try the burgers and milkshakes. Their burgers are award winning and their shakes are not your average shakes. The term Crazy Shakes is most appropriate. Don’t want to wait to sit inside for a milkshake? You can also order them from their separate to-go window which I plan on checking out on my next visit!

The burgers here are juicy and delicious! I read an article with the owner Chris Barish about what his favorite menu items were and what he recommends first timers try so that’s why I decided to order the All American Burger. It’s a classic lettuce, tomato, american cheese and special sauce burger. You can’t really go wrong with this one!

If you’re looking to be a bit more adventurous we also tried the Texan Burger. This baby comes with what looks like the world's largest onion ring, crispy bacon, aged cheddar and BBQ sauce. Out of the two burgers, this was our favorite! I mean...just look at that thing!

Now to what I consider the main event and the thing that will get people visiting here more than anything...the CrazyShakes! These beauties are the epitome of Instagram worthy food. They take a classic shake and top it off with ingredients that might look a bit overwhelming but were actually not once we started eating them.

I honestly thought there was no way I would be able to eat a whole shake but surprisingly I pulled it off! We tried two different flavors, neither of which you can order through the take out window. The Cotton Candy Strawberry Shake and the Sweet N’ Salty Peanut Butter Shake. Honestly I loved them both and would happily order either one again. I think the toppings on the Cotton Candy shake were a little less “crazy” for consumption than the Sweet N’ Salty. It got to a point where the only thing left was the lollipop which is still wrapped so you can take it with you to go!

The Sweet N’ Salty was amazing as well, but I found the whip cream and chocolate sauce got a little bit messy. Messiness aside, this was my jam! I loved the peanut butter cups, pretzel sticks and the sweet addition of a Sugar Daddy candy for later.

All in all, I loved my experience at Black Tap. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and made sure the long lines moved smoothly. Don’t miss out on visiting this awesome addition to Downtown Disney on your next trip!
