Happy #TacoTuesday! Let me introduce you to a brand new restaurant that just opened up in the Fashion Valley Mall, Blanco Tacos + Tequila. It took over the space that use to be California Pizza Kitchen before they switched locations. I really love how they remodeled the space and included a beautiful outdoor patio for those beautiful sunny days!

I ordered a little bit of everything from their menu during their soft opening last month and there wasn’t one item I didn’t enjoy. They have many options of tacos to try but don’t ignore their amazing fajitas as well. I don’t know about you but something about my meal arriving to my table on a hot crackling skillet really makes me happy. I saw a meme recently that said “If you want attention, go to a restaurant and order fajitas.” It’s too real! Everyone in the restaurant seems to turn around and look when the sizzling sound appears.

So what should you order on your visit to Blancos? Start with drinks! They are known for their margaritas and I was able to try 4 of them. Jarod and I each ordered two and a different one each time so I could sample multiples. For our first round we had the JALAPEÑO & PINEAPPLE Margarita with chile verde liqueur & habanero bitters and THE MARGARITA which is frozen margarita with Jose Cuervo Especial and Patron Citronge.

The second round we ordered the SMASHED WATERMELON margarita with white tequila & chile lime salt and the BLACKBERRY CLEMENTINE margarita with white tequila & hibiscus sea salt. My favorite? The Watermelon! It was surprisingly not too sweet and the spicy rim added a nice kick.

Next up, try an appetizer! I originally wanted to try the ceviche but they were fresh out. Which I guess means it’s delicious. So I went with the Mariscos Shrimp & Crab Cocktail with avocado, celery leaf, cilantro, and radish instead. It was a hot day and this cold dish really was a great starter. Fresh, citrusy and full of flavor!

Then it was time for the main course. Now, I’m a firm believer that you can’t go to a place that has TACOS in their name and NOT order tacos your first time there. So I went with SNAKE RIVER WAGYU CARNE ASADA TACOS with charred scallion relish, crushed avocado, and spicy garlic butter. Every bite was full of delicious smoky flavor. I loved them!

To mix things up for our other entree we ordered the HALF CHICKEN FAJITAS smothered in an achiote citrus sauce. A truly spectacular dish packed with tons of flavor that will make your tastebuds dance with happiness. I would definitely order this dish again.

Lastly we wrapped up our meal with the server’s suggested favorite, the flan. I was a bit stuffed at this point but thankfully it wasn’t too large and gave me that sweet treat fix I was craving.

Thank you Blanco Tacos + Tequila for having me during your soft opening! I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.
