🥄What Are Overnight Oats?
Overnight oats are a delicious and convenient way to enjoy a nutritious breakfast without having to spend time in the morning preparing it. Essentially, they are oats that have been soaked in liquid (usually milk or yogurt) and left in the refrigerator overnight.
The result is a creamy, pudding-like texture that can be enjoyed as is or customized with a variety of toppings. The best part? You can make them in advance, saving you time and energy in the morning. That’s always a win for me!

Benefits of Overnight Oats Vs Cooked
Overnight oats offer several benefits over cooked oats. First off, overnight oats are more convenient, as they can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge for several days. If you’re like me, then some mornings are a rush and you need something that’s just sitting there in the fridge waiting for you.
Additionally, overnight oats have a creamier texture compared to cooked oats, and they retain more of their nutrients due to not being exposed to high heat. It can also make them easier to digest.
Finally, overnight oats are versatile and can be customized with various toppings and flavors to suit personal taste preferences. These blueberry cheesecake overnight oats are just one of many options you can try.

💬 FAQ
Yes, you can add the frozen blueberries directly to the mason jar and let them thaw overnight in the fridge with the oats mixture. Just be sure to adjust for the excess liquid that can be created as the berries thaw. You may want to start with a slightly smaller amount of milk than you would if you were using fresh blueberries, and then adjust the consistency as needed by adding more milk if it's too thick or more oats if it's too thin.
Yes, you can use any type of milk that you prefer or have on hand, such as almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk. Just make sure to adjust the amount of milk to achieve the desired consistency and taste.
Yes, you can warm up overnight oats by microwaving them for about 60 seconds or heating them on the stovetop. However, keep in mind that the texture may become mushy and the flavor may be slightly altered. I tried them heated up one of the days I did a recipe test and still enjoyed them!
Yes, you can make overnight oats with water instead of milk if you prefer. However, using milk will add creaminess and extra flavor to the oats. If you use water, you may want to add more sweetener or other flavorings to enhance the taste.
Rolled oats themselves are gluten-free, but they can become contaminated with gluten during processing. Therefore, if you have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance, it is important to choose certified gluten-free rolled oats to ensure they are not cross-contaminated with gluten.
I don’t personally have a gluten intolerance but still love to use these Bob’s Red Mill Old Fashioned Rolled Oats which are gluten-free!
While steel-cut oats can be used in overnight oats, they will have a very different texture than old-fashioned oats (also known as rolled oats). Steel-cut oats will not become as creamy as rolled oats and may be more chewy. If you prefer a softer texture, it is recommended to stick with rolled oats for this recipe.
Yes, you can definitely make a larger batch of this Blueberry Cheesecake Overnight Oats recipe and store it in the fridge for the whole week. It's a great meal prep option for a quick and healthy breakfast. Just make sure to use airtight containers and stir well before serving each time. You may also need to add a splash of milk or yogurt if the mixture thickens too much over time.
There are several reasons why your overnight oats may not be creamy:
Not enough liquid: Make sure to use the recommended amount of liquid, whether it's milk or yogurt, to ensure the oats can absorb it properly.
Not enough time: The longer you let the oats sit, the creamier they will become. If you're short on time, try soaking the oats for at least 30 minutes before eating.
Too much oatmeal: Using too much oatmeal can result in a thicker, less creamy texture. Try reducing the amount of oatmeal and increasing the amount of liquid.
Using quick oats: Quick oats tend to absorb more liquid and can result in a less creamy texture. Stick to rolled oats or steel-cut oats for a creamier texture.
Not stirring enough: Make sure to stir the oats well before refrigerating to ensure that the liquid is evenly distributed. If the oats settle during refrigeration, give them a good stir before eating.
