Caffe Calabria has some of the best pizza I’ve found here in San Diego! Their Neapolitan style pizza has the right balance of crust, sauce, and toppings. Plus they serve it to you with scissors so you can cut it yourself so it's fun too!

The staff here is super friendly and they offer a variety of menu items including coffee and cocktails! I’m pretty sure I could do a seperate blog post just on their pastries and coffee. But today it’s about the pizza. Some of you may know by now that I have an extensive list of pizza places in San Diego that I’m visiting so eventually I can provide you with a wrap up blog showcasing my favorites.

It might be too early in my hunt to make this statement but I’m pretty sure Caffe Calabria will be on that list. Their use of fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella compliment the amazing sauce, and any other toppings you decide to go with.

On this pizza we tried their housemade fennel sausage and it was worthy of being showcased on it’s own. Sausage pizza is a combination I’ve enjoyed since I was a kid, but I often pair it with pepperoni. This time it was not needed. The simple fact that they make it in house should be enough for you to want to try it when you pay them a visit. I know after reading this you will headed over there ASAP!

Our second pizza was a combination of organic San Marzano tomatoes, basil and prosciutto. Normally when I order a prosciutto pizza they leave it on in giant strips that can be awkward to eat. Here at Caffe Calabria they slice it up into small bits and cook it with the pizza and I found it to be much more enjoyable that way. Perhaps I will try making it this way at home next time!

If you’re looking for traditional neapolitan pizza in North Park, I highly recommend you check out Caffe Calabria. Their pizza is served Wednesday–Sunday from 11AM-11PM so plan accordingly!
