Have you ever dreamed of enjoying a delicious cocktail above the noise at Disneyland at a magical place called Club 33? Well, today I'm bringing you a recipe to one of their special cocktails called the Double Rum Rutkin. Created in honor of Kerry Rutkin, avid Disney goer and Club 33 Member for many years.
If you don’t know what Club 33 is, let me put it to you this way...it’s the epitome of luxury for Disneyland fans. How do you find it? Well the entrance is only recognizable by an ornate address plate with the number 33 engraved on it. But, don’t bother trying to get in. This is reserved for the lucky few with memberships to this exclusive club. So don't ask Kerry. LOL! Last I heard the waiting list was out 14 years!

Get To Know Kerry Rutkin
Now let’s talk about Kerry Rutkin. I've been following Kerry on Instagram for some time now and love that the way he showcases his love for his signature drink is by showing the celebrities stopping by Club 33 to enjoy them. Many of them are renowned Disney artists whose work you would probably recognize. This is why I called upon my husband and talented illustrator Jarod to create a custom art piece to accompany this recipe. It just seemed to fit perfectly!
Like Kerry, Jarod and I both love Disneyland. Don't believe me? Check out my Disneyland blog archive here. So I reached out to Kerry in hopes I could share his refreshing cocktail with all of you! I also wanted to interview him because let's be honest...there aren't many Club 33 members in the world and I loved learning all about him and his love for Disney. He's truly living the dream!

So without further ado here is my interview with Kerry Rutkin, Disney Fan and Club 33 Member.
How long have you been a member at Disneyland's Club 33?
Kerry Rutkin: This October will be 25 years.
Wow! That's awhile now! When did you first come up with the recipe for this cocktail?
Kerry: I didn’t come up with it. At Steakhouse 55 a friend suggested that since I go there so often that I should have my own signature cocktail. Beth our server came up with the Raspberry Rutkin. A few months later while at the Club I told one of the bartenders that I had one and he said you should have one here as well. That was the birth of the Double Rum Rutkin. I had nothing to do with the recipe. People started seeing it and asked what it was as it looks so refreshing. More and more started asking about it. I started posting the Celebrity pictures to have some fun. I consider all my friends to be celebrities in my life.

If you could place this drink in any era, where do you think it would fit in the most?
Kerry: It is timeless Natasha. Certainly 1940’s to mid-60’s. Hard to say.
What's your favorite thing to do at Disneyland?
Kerry:I like to go to the park and hang out. Soak it all in. Savor the crowds, noise and atmosphere. Try new food. Look at places I have seen many times with a critical eye to see what I may have missed. Finding quiet areas that are not well traveled at both parks.

If you could share a Double Rum Rutkin with anyone living or dead, who would it be and why?
Kerry: Sandy Koufax and Paul McCartney. They were boyhood heroes of mine who still have a strong hold on me.
What meal pairs best with the Double Rum Rutkin?
Kerry: Oh, it pairs well with just about anything.
