I have found comfort food heaven! To be honest, I would never have guessed I would find it at Tipsy Crow in the Gaslamp though. I have walked by here dozens of times and not once stopped to check out their food...until now! I can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on this place!

I met up with a couple of my favorite foodie friends, San Diego Food Girl, Savvy Sweets, and Oh So Yummy Review to feast on all the beautiful dishes I’m about to share with you. Tipsy Crow is the perfect place to get together with a few friends on a Sunday afternoon, drink a margarita and listen to some live music. They have lots of seating available so it doesn’t get too crowded and the food will make you want to stay an hour or more.

To kick our Sunday feast off right we ordered a couple appetizers. You already know my love for cheese boards so this was a must. Immediately I knew this place was going to have a repeat customer. Their cheeseboard was perfectly balanced and the bacon jam was the icing on the cake! Stay tuned because I’m going to try and recreate a recipe for it at home. I need it for all future cheese boards.

Next is another food near and dear to my heart. PRETZELS! I’m not sure if you know this but I come from German ancestry and I feel like loving pretzels is in my genetic makeup. They have to be good pretzels though and I assure you the ones at Tipsy Crow are perfection. Did I mention they also come with beer cheese? Insert drooling emoji here.

Last but not least for the appetizer lineup is the lobster cheese dip. I mean….Lobster Cheese you guys! I told you this place was comfort food heaven. They serve it up with a soft yet crispy sourdough bread perfect for spreading ample amounts of lobster and cheese all over.

Still hungry for more? Surprisingly we still were! So let’s move on to the main event. Entrees!

Before heading here to meet up with my friends I had done some reconnaissance work on Instagram to see what I wanted to eat. Don’t laugh. You know you do it too! Anyways, that’s when I knew I had to try the mac and cheese bread bowls. We couldn’t decide on just one combo to try so we went with the Truffle Mac and the Buffalo Chicken Mac. My favorite was the Truffle Mac. It had crispy pieces of bacon and an amazing truffle flavor throughout that made my taste buds very happy.

We also wanted to try a few other entree items to mix things up a bit so we ordered the “Tony Soprano” flatbread and their classic meatballs. Ok, the meatballs were an appetizer but Savannah wanted to try them so who are we to say no to her? Plus she was nice and let me try some. Again, I was amazed that I genuinely loved everything we ordered. The flatbread was so good. It had meatballs, roasted red peppers, salami and heaping amounts of mozzarella cheese that Tony Soprano would definitely approve of!

Thank you so much to the wonderful chefs and staff at Tipsy Crow for taking such good care of us foodies during our visit. I promise it won’t be the last you see of me! I need more of that Truffle Mac ASAP.
