Are you a looking for a new breakfast restaurant? I'm always on the lookout for the next best breakfast and recently Franco's Flapjack came to the rescue! They have several different locations in San Diego. I decided to try their Bonita restaurant but they also have locations in Poway and Alpine if that's closer to you.

From the outside it's a bit unsuspecting. Nothing too flashy but sometimes those are best places to eat! Once you walk inside you are immediately greeted by the happy staff. It's not a huge dining room but for a party of two we didn't have to wait very long arriving at 11 AM on a Saturday.
I don't know about you but wait times can kill me when I'm hungry or as I like to call it...hangry! Thankfully the food here is the perfect cure for anyone hanger like symptoms you might be experiencing.

The owner Arturo, helped us select items from the menu. One item in particular he insisted we order was the Chicken & Waffles. Let me tell you, this was an excellent recommendation!

The chicken was crispy on the outside but perfectly juicy on the inside. The waffle? Cooked to perfection! It was light and fluffy plus it didn't come out cold. Even after taking a minute to devour some chicken first it stayed warm which is always a major win. I hate cold waffles!

Then we tried their famous pancakes. I figured you couldn't visit a restaurant that has the word flapjack in the name and NOT try a pancake! Theirs have bananas and pecans baked into the fluffy batter and it's perfect with butter and syrup on top!

Next up we had to try something savory so we ordered the classic Benedict. Most restaurants give you the standard two English muffins with a Benedict but not Franco's! They give you 3! Not to mention their hash browns are probably the best hash browns I've had in awhile. They're not overcooked and they almost remind me of mashed potatoes, not that they're mushy or anything. Just the overall taste and flavor! YUM!

Last but not least was their French Toast with fresh strawberries. It was a huge serving but if it weren't for all the other foods we tried I probably could have demolished this on my own. I love the thick slices of bread that they use and they definitely don't skimp on the strawberries!

If you're looking for a new breakfast spot to try I definitely recommend stopping by Franco's Flapjack! Just make sure you come hungry because their food will leave you stuffed. We fought off the need for a nap with a walk around Old Town after breakfast.

Thanks to Arturo and the staff at Franco's Flapjack for having us! I'll definitely be back for more soon!
