The more I think about it, the more I realize some of my absolute favorite restaurants in San Diego are in Little Italy. You might think that Little Italy would only cater to those searching for Italian fare, but it’s only a part of the amazing culinary delights you can find here. Frost Me Café & Bakery is one of the newest places to set up shop there.
If you’ve visited Seaport Village anytime in the past few years you may have already been to their other location, Frost Me Gourmet, that focuses solely on cupcakes and other delectable pastries. However, the new cafe features a wide variety of options from morning until night!
The owners Audrey Hermes and Jon Parker of Cupcake Wars fame (they WON season 9), understand that cupcakes although wonderful, are usually purchased as a treat or for a special occasion…or in my case because it’s a Wednesday and life is too short to not enjoy cupcakes when you want!
Since they wanted to offer a wide range of items on their menu, this new location in the Piazza della Famiglia serves up everything from their classic cupcakes that made them famous on Cupcake Wars seasons 7 & 9, to salmon toast, salads, and charcuterie boards! I was also informed that their morning cinnamon buns are to die for, but you need to show up bright and early because they always sell out!
They have truly put together a beautiful and inviting location, complete with outdoor seating. Everything I tried when I was there was excellent in taste and presentation! My favorite thing I tried though…the S’mores Cupcake. If you put toasted marshmallow on something, chances are I will buy it.
If you’re looking for a beautiful place to enjoy the sun, drink some coffee or rosé and enjoy and delicious sandwiches or cupcakes, you definitely need to pay Frost Me Café & Bakery a visit! Don’t be afraid to say ‘Hi’ to Audrey and Jon while you are at it, they are both very kind and friendly people and I can tell they absolutely love what they do!
