Pizza By The Slice At Best Pizza & Brew

My hunt for best pizza in San Diego continues! I figured a place called 'Best Pizza & Brew' was a pretty good place to start. They have several locations but I specifically visited the one in Mira Mesa.

This was my first time going here and I could tell right away that it's a local favorite. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy! Not too busy that we weren't able to grab a decent table though. It seems like a great place for families with kids too. One giant pizza could definitely feed a family of 4.

Because it's just the two of us, Jarod and I decided to go the slice route. They had an awesome promo where you get 2 slices of pizza and a beer for only $11! I've been trying to watch the beer intake myself these days (My 30's haven't been nice to my metabolism) so I opted for a cider. It was crisp and delicious! Also note that the last hour of every night they offer pizza slices for only $1.50. Perfect for those late night cravings!

As a side dish we added on their burrata caprese salad. It's all about balance right? And cheese of course, especially when it's burrata! I loved the balsamic dressing a freshly sliced heirloom tomatoes. The perfect compliment to our pizza slices.

Speaking of pizza! I've been trying to always get a classic pepperoni when I try a new place. I feel like you can tell a lot about a place based on their pepperoni pizza. I gotta say, Best Pizza & Brew passed the test. I loved the thin crust and the pizza wasn't overly greasy to the point where you would feel the need to pat it down with a napkin.

The other slice I had to try was their Pesto Goat Cheese. I find myself always gravitating towards pesto pizza no matter where I go. Perhaps it's because my weekly slice use to be the Pesto Pizza from Hot Mama's in Seattle. I was obsessed! Thankfully Best Pizza & Brew crafts an amazing slice of Pesto heaven too! The goat cheese was a welcome addition along with the toasted pine nuts and sun dried tomatoes. Ugh, just writing about it is making me hungry!

Overall my experience at Best Pizza & Brew was great! I enjoyed the nice casual vibe and outdoor seating area. Plus the prices are great when you don't want to break the bank! Thanks for having us Best Pizza & Brew, we'll be back for a slice of that pesto again soon!
