My recipe for Prosciutto Margherita Pizza With Basil is a dinner-time favorite. It pairs perfectly with my other recipes for Ultimate Homemade Pizza Sauce and Fresh Pizza Dough.
Movie night? How about some pizza? Date night? Well, what do you know...pizza! If you don’t want to use my pizza sauce or dough recipes, that’s totally fine, but trust me if you have the time it makes it extra tasty! Otherwise, you can use any pre-made dough from the store as well as any pre-made pizza sauce. If you do, you will want to adjust your oven settings according to the store-bought dough instructions instead of following mine.
Also, I recommend basil from a fresh plant which you can pick up from Trader Joe’s for about $3 and will last you a little over a week if you water it properly. As for the prosciutto, you can buy the prepackaged slices or get yours from the grocery store deli which is what I tend to do.
There’s no rules here, make your pizza however you like. Pizza is supposed to be fun!
Prosciutto Margherita Pizza Recipe
*Makes 1 Pizza*
Ingredients:
1 Serving of my Fresh Pizza Dough
⅓ Cup of my Ultimate Homemade Pizza Sauce
1 Tbs. Olive Oil
½ Container of Ciliegine Fresh Mozzarella
8 Slices Prosciutto
8 Basil Leaves
1 Yellow & 1 Red Tomato Sliced Thin
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 500 degrees. While the oven heats, place your fresh dough on a cookie sheet and drizzle it with your olive oil. Use a basting brush to spread it evenly across the whole pizza. Next, use that same brush to spread your pizza sauce evenly across the dough leaving room around the edges for crust if you like.
Once the base is complete, add your fresh mozzarella. At this point, I place the pizza in the oven for 7 minutes. Carefully take the pizza out of the oven and add the rest of your toppings except the basil. Place back in the oven for 5 more minutes. In the last minute of cooking, you can add the basil or just wait until the very end to keep it extra fresh.
Let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!
