Scuderie Italia Brings Authentic Italian Food And A Love For Classic Italian Racing Culture To Pacific Beach
Newly opened Scuderie Italia is a must visit when you’re looking for authentic Italian food in Pacific Beach. Love Italian automobiles? The whole restaurant theme encompasses Italian auto racing culture and the luxury of these beautiful cars as well. Owned by Leo Landini, best known for Landini’s Pizzeria in Little Italy and his wife Christine who is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She was so hospitable and really made sure we had a great experience.

The amazing menu for Scuderie Italia is designed by local Chef DJ Tangalin and is complimented with the skills of AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) Master Piazziolo John Carlo. No matter what you order here, I guarantee you will enjoy it!
You can dine outside on their patio or inside as well and still enjoy the fresh ocean air. My husband and I dined outside and enjoyed a lovely dinner here on a Thursday night. Now that I’m pregnant I can’t partake in enjoying alcoholic beverages on our dates, but Jarod tried one of their Italian Beers and said it was excellent. The perfect beer if you want something light and refreshing.
They have lots of great options for appetizers and share plates so we decided to try a few different ones. My favorite was the Fritto Misto. It’s a combination of calamari, shrimp and vegetables all battered in a crispy tempura coating. Served with a side of spicy aioli that was the perfect compliment.

Their Brussels sprouts were another great item I would strongly recommend. These are considered a side dish, but as you can see it’s definitely enough for two people to share! They were nice and crispy with chunks of pancetta that just melted in your mouth. If you’re a Brussels sprouts fan, you can’t pass these up!

Now for the main event we went with two different entrees. The Scottish Salmon with cauliflower Apple purée and flavorful pomegranate salsa on top is the perfect option if you’re looking for something packed with protein. I loved the fresh salsa on top, such a great addition to the salmon.

We also had to try the pizza. Now that I’ve experienced it, I don’t think I could come here and not order a pizza. I decided to waver from my traditional choices and ordered the Bianca with fresh basil on top. It’s covered in creamy ricotta, mozzarella, roasted garlic, shaved parmesan and pepper. Honestly, the most perfect cheese pizza I’ve had in a very long time. The crust was also crispy yet soft from the wood fired oven. No crust was left behind with this meal!

Last but not least, we were surprised with a creative dessert from Chef Tangalin. This bright green beauty is the Panna Cotta. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Natasha...it’s green! How is that panna cotta? Well, you will be thrilled to know that this creamy dessert is colored with palm oil. Topped with crunchy pistachios and oranges. This treat is perfect if you don’t want something too sweet at the end of your meal.
